2016 Six Mile Lake OP Amendment Repealed

On July 11th 2016, The Township passed a resolution repealing the OP Amendment which was previously approved by council during their May 09th 2016 meeting. As the applicant for the amendment (Six Mile Lake Cottagers Association) requested the by-law be withdrawn due to strong opposition by their membership including other cottagers, council voted 5 in favour of rescinding the by-law with 1 opposed. Counselor Paul Wianko was absent during the vote due to a possible conflict of interest.

In addition to the OP Amendment matter, council addressed a second resolution regarding the reimbursement of all application fees for the OPA application by the SMLCA. Council voted in favour of refunding 50% of the $2000.00 fee, back to the SMLCA.

It was our position that the OP Amendment not be passed during its original hearing, and that the costs for the application not be refunded back to the SMLCA, rather be used to better our community through educational programs, environmental studies, and much needed road repairs.
